Project Info

The X-HEALTH HUB is for all ages, designed in an exhibition style and gathers like a centre for the public. This thesis explores a new typology in open education, specifically sexual education.

A beautiful heritage building by Toronto’s waterfront finds home to this project; the preservation of the trusses and timber is of utmost importance - giving opportunity to shed light on the topic and skeleton. As a heavy topic to digest, the building has laid out designated break spots called voids for those large and small moments. These break voids zipper through the long corridor, with strips of light-wells illuminating the lower level.

The exhibition begins in the north building, touring past the interior and exterior voids and descending into the lower level via ramps. Large landings support displays and occupants as the exhibition continues into the lower level, looping around through both the experiential corridors and ending at the theatre. Space for questions and concerns are at the peak of the theatre where onsite practitioners and other professional resources are offered.

Ascending from the belly of the building; digestion promotes dialogue. The south building caters to encouraging dialogue about topics in sexual health; a cafe, gallery space, theatre, and the edge of Toronto’s Waterfront deck.
