Bohemian Headboard of your Dreams

Let’s face it, we’ve all fell in love with the warm tones of rattan and wicker pieces these past few seasons. It provides a medium tone for our eyes to rest within our homes and pairs well with indoor greenery.

Somewhere on Pinterest lies my inspiration for this headboard project, but seeing the palm fans in the two local shops below gave enough reason to start.

First, I used the palm fan leaf from VdeV Maison, a homegoods shop with two locations in Montreal and Toronto. Their Toronto shop has recently relocated to Dundas and Bathurst, and is a must-visit this season.

The two items may be sold out at the moment, but the items were named ‘Mabuna’ for reference. The small and large size fit perfectly with my project.

I snagged the two x-large palm fans at a very fitting location - Plaiter Place on Spadina! This shop’s selection of rattan, wicker, sea grass, and other similar items have been the best I’ve seen. There is bamboo furniture and home accessories here as well.

The steps are very simple, I used pins! Check the photo below to see where I positioned the pins so the fans were angled to my liking. These fans had a lip I could place the fan on and it wouldn’t fall off. The two XL fans from Plaiter Place have a loop at the end of the handle, which I tied together with a ribbon.

This solution is temporary. I do not lean or push cushions against the wall installation. Since the headboard of the bed and the wall match, its draws further attention to the fan’s beauty.
